wedlog

A web log is frequently updated journal of short postings about a particular subject. In this case, it's our wedding, so we call it our "wedlog". We will post our wedding-related activities and information about the wedding here in our wedlog. Weblogs are becoming an extermely popular way for people with similar interests to communicate. For more information about creating your own weblog and viewing other weblogs, click here or here.

Here's our entire wedlog (most recent first).

Thursday, May 23, 2002: Where to have the Rehearsal Dinner?
There are not very many restaurants in the Ipswich area with a private room for the wedding party to have a rehearsal dinner. We looked in the Salem waterfront area: Lyceum, Finz, Woodmans, Grapevine, Rockmore, Hawthorne Hotel. After many phone calls and calls back, we were pleased to hear that the Lyceum was available, recommended by Dave Simmons. We're going up there to test it on Saturday night.

Thursday, April 25, 2002: Florist selected!
We've selected a florist! Jeri Solomon Floral Designs has beaten out the competition to do the flowers for our big day!

Wednesday, April 24, 2002 (4 months): Minister found!
We have a minister! Judy's minister, Fr. Greg suggested we talk to the rector at the local church in Ipswich, Fr. John Hooker. He's available and we're going to meet him on Monday the 29th to begin planning the ceremony.

Sunday, April 21, 2002: Invitations selected
The good news-we found invitations today! A small company called Massaro Design in Stoneham is working with us to make beautiful periwinkle and white invitations. We can't wait to see the proofs! The minister we talked to at church this morning had some recommendations for us, so we will phone the area ministers she suggested.

Thursday, April 18, 2002: Bridesmaid dresses selected
We've selected the bridesmaid dresses - lavender two piece Vera Wang ensembles. We actually saw the same dress at Yolandas in January, and Karen went to the NYC salon to try on the actual dress to make sure it was as perfect as we thought it was. We'll order the dresses this month so they'll be in by July. We are figuring out that nothing goes quickly in this wedding planning business.

Monday, April 15, 2002: Flower shopping
The search for a florist is on. Beth has visited 3 places: a florist in Ipswich and two floral designers recommended by the Crane Estate. Our choices are somewhat limited as the Crane Estate has a short list of florists that they like you to work with. The quotes should be in by the end of April so we can make a decision and check "florist" off the never-ending To Do list. Who'd have thought you'd need so many flowers for an outdoor wedding?

Saturday, April 13, 2002: Summertime is vacation time
Anyone interested in performing the ceremony? We're having a heck of a time locating an Episcopal celebrant. Everyone we've talked to is either busy, on vacation or on sabbatical beginning in June. Email us if you have ideas!

Friday, April 12, 2002: Tuxedos selected!
We selected tuxedos for the groom and groomsmen tonight; light blue polyester with a ruffled shirt, KIDDING! In reality, they are basic black and very, very sharp. We're renting the Lubiam 120's from Mr. Tux.

Saks called Beth at work to let her know that the dress has arrived after 5 months on order. They are shipping it to the Boston store so the alterations can be done here. First fitting will be in on May 2nd and Judy will join her for the fun.

Wednesday, February 27, 2002: Save the Date Cards picked up!
Beth picked up the Save the Date cards from Rugg Road Paper Company today. Since the wedding is months away and we won't be sending out invitations until closer to the wedding, we wanted to make sure everyone, especially out of town guests, saves 8/24 and has time to make travel reservations. The wedsite has information on suggested accomodations.

Sunday, February 24, 2002: Web site started!
We started the web site today! We're going to add frequent updates to the "wedlog" as we make our way towards August 24th.  We'll let you know what we're up to.  Check back often, even after the wedding for pictures and honeymoon stories!
